Overview

I built an MVP for a job marketplace tailored to the Indonesian market, similar to Airtasker but focused on simplicity and speed. The platform connects people who need tasks done (“Posters”) with those who can help (“Helpers”). To streamline the experience and reduce friction, I skipped complex chat systems and instead facilitated connections through WhatsApp once a task is accepted and paid for.

Goals & Requirements

  • Validate the market demand for a local, task-based marketplace.
  • Deliver a simple, intuitive platform that could be launched quickly.
  • Keep development lean by avoiding complex features (like in-app chat).
  • Integrate a secure payment gateway (Xendit) to handle transactions.
  • Ensure Posters and Helpers can easily coordinate after matching.

My Role & Contributions

As the CTO and lead developer, I was responsible for the end-to-end technical development of the MVP. I designed and implemented the overall system architecture, ensuring scalability while keeping the first release lean and fast to market. I integrated the Xendit payment gateway to handle secure transactions, built the core flows for task posting, browsing, and acceptance, and connected WhatsApp integration to facilitate communication once payment was confirmed. By applying lean product principles, I was able to deliver the MVP within a short timeframe, allowing us to quickly validate the idea with real users.

Key Features / Achievements

  • Task Posting & Browsing: Posters can create tasks with details and pricing, while Helpers can browse and accept tasks.

  • Xendit Payment Gateway Integration: Implemented a secure payment flow where Posters pay once a task is accepted.

  • WhatsApp Integration: After payment, both parties receive each other’s WhatsApp numbers to coordinate directly.

  • Lean Development: Delivered a functional MVP in a short timeframe, focusing only on must-have features.

Outcome

The MVP successfully demonstrated the core concept of a local job marketplace. By stripping away non-essential features and leveraging existing tools (WhatsApp + Xendit), I was able to launch quickly and validate user adoption. This foundation sets the stage for future iterations with richer features like in-app messaging, reputation systems, and advanced matching.
